I’ve been rebuilding the Seattle Seafair Pirates website with Claude, and I hit a milestone this week I’m pretty proud of.
The current site runs on WordPress. It’s heavy and frankly more than the org needs for something that isn’t a blog.
The new version goes the other direction. It’s just fast static pages, with no CMS or database to babysit, so there’s very little to maintain. The part I’m happiest with is an officers-only portal that lets our board update the live site themselves, in real time, without having to loop in an admin or wait on me.
To top it all off, the cost is down to roughly 5 cents a month (I know, sorry team…I quoted 1 cent a month, but it’s adding up!)
